About Imtiaz

Imtiaz 47, a loving husband and a father of a beautiful 11 year old girl, residing in USA, and of Asian Indian ethnicity (originally from Tanzania, East Africa) was diagnosed with Acute Myelogeneous Leukemia (AML), a form of Blood Cancer, in November 2012.

Imtiaz is now undergoing chemotherapy in the hopes that he can attain a successful remission and receive a bone marrow transplant.

Following a successful remission comes the daunting task of locating a marrow match from the National or International registries. Tests revealed that his only sibling is not a match. You could be that match!

Processing new donor samples can take up to 2 months or more so it is crucial for people to be tested ASAP before his need becomes more critical. The test is non-invasive (i.e. just a swab of inside of your cheek)

Why should you help?

Consider this. A thought to ponder upon....

Say if instead of Imtiaz it was someone you care about. Given the fact that in the marrow bank only 2% of the registrants are of the same/similar ethnic background as us (South Asia); Of the 2% what are the chances to find a match for that special person in your life who is ill?

Needless to say we need to make more of an effort to increase our ethnic pool size in the marrow bank so that there are more chances for people with this disease to find a match in the future.

Your donation will not only potentially help save Imtiaz but will also aid others that are diagnosed with Leukemia and require a transplant to save their life.
